Script rule -2

Is the story acceptable ? or it is possible to any human being ? this kind of intra and extraspection  is very important for a cinema.

Examples :

Robot :
Robot can not turn like man with all feelings. It is impossible. But as we see in the movie from beginning itself. We accept all possibilities in the making of Humanoid  Robot. That believability created through the scenes..

Krish :

Can a person jump and move like a superman ? it is not possible..that's why from the beginning the hero as boy making wonders  in the script.

Lagaan :

Without knowing the cricket can a group of villagers defeat the British team. Is it possible ? but the scenes, characters  makes it possible.
That is the believability and it accepted by the audience.

Lage Raho Munnabhai:
Can Gandhi appear and talks to any person ? is it possible ? that idea inserted to Munnabhai –and played a beautiful script with all good logics and  introducing , interpreting Gandhiji’s rules..

The story must be believable by the audience and it should be accepted. The elements should add from the beginning of the story. otherwise movie become bluff.

Creative clue : cinema means making impossible into possible. So in this way it must acceptable .
Remember one thing if any thing is impossible in real life ,it must be possible in cinema format.

Script rule -1

Sympathy : the main character faces so many troubles , risks . so that hero gain “sympathy” from the audience.

Examples:

Kahaani :

Vidyabalan being pregnant in her character gains the sympathy.

Raanjhana :

Kundan faces so many troubles to gain the love of joya. In this process Kundan gain sympathy from audience.

Tare jameen par :
Observe the main character life …

3idiots :
Ameer khan (Rancho) is orphan..that is there in the flashback story ,which is revealed by Javed Jefry. That gives a sympathy on main character.
Lagaan …Welcome…Maine pyar kiya…Munnabhai M.B.B.S….Lage raho munnabhai…Rocket singh… and so many movies play this one.

Empathy : Audience identify the main character with them. So the audience empathy play vital role. Hence  hero’s characterization travels along with the audience.

Examples:

Dil Chahtaa hai :
Three different characters .one of the character connects with viewers. They feel “empathy” on the Ameer khan character…

3idiots :

Three different students. Two students gets always last ranks. One is a genius..we “empathy “ with one character in our student life…

Lakshya :

The main character having confusion towards his career. At some stage  every one  facing that problem.

Wakeup sid :
Most of the youth represents main character .they feel that is their character.

Like …
Rock on…
Jindagi  na milegi dobaraa…
movies also play this one.

Script Rule - 0

The who knows  the rules of game , will be played well . In the same way we must know the script rules to break it then only creation will starts…
Script rule 0 :
To write a cinema story we have to check some 5 points.
1. Which type of movie should be write? (Genre)
2. Is creativity there in the story line?
3. We need patience
4. Self Realization
5. Budget

1.Which type of movie should be write? (Genre)
Family entertainer, Horror ,Thrillers, travel ,feel good ,social –so many of Genres are there …so we have to take a decision on the genre and firm on that. At this state full clarity must be there. Without it leave the cinema.

2.Is creativity there in the story line?

Whether the story is new or not ? audience must be connected emotionally ? think like that in the story point . It may be a thriller , Pleasure and sorrow whatever…If the story is not good to your friend and to you ,leave it aside. It is better to save money and time..(because so many movies are released..some only click at box office ..all other are flops and not released)

3.We need patience

In the writing of script we must have patience. If story is good then we have to write good scenes for the story. Sometimes scenes are are not able to create then story will not move. At this time we need patience. (3 idiots , Dabanng ,Raanjhanaa –script are examples ..some movies have good story line but they are not having good scenes …so  that they are flop…)

4.Self Realization

“what we have done is best” –this is not correct in the script point of view. Don’t expect blast for every dialogue or scene in the script ,what we have written. We have to discuss the script with creative workers and writers. We have to add ingredients /attractions to the script.(so many directors failed in this point)

5.Budget

There must be a clarity in each and everything. Which is needed ? which is not needed ? this is up to a good vision of director and good producer. These are two persons can control the budjet and not the casting.

Script Basics -1,2,3,4

Plot  device:
It is a thing or device used by hero/heroine  or character ,which helps to create feel, emotion, symbolism, connectivity,Tension.

Examples:

1.Krish:
In this movie hero krish maintaining a mask on his face .with that mask  he fights, saves the people.one fine time he given the mask for good purpose. This shows a humanity angle in the hero.
In this movie krish given a ring to priyanka chopra for the symbol of love.At one point ,that ring is taken by the roudies…then it leads to fight.

2.Sholey :
Amitab having a coin …In the decision making time ,he uses that coin..that gives so many changes in the script.
These type of Plot Devices are seen in so many old movies.
Mister India ,Gayab etc….
Condition: there should be a purpose in the script to
apply plot device .
It is a added advantage to the story and help in the run of the story.
Without any purpose don’t use the plot device.

Plantings and payoffs:

Examples:
1.Ishqiya :
in the first half one boy repaired the gun of Arshad varsi. the  boy is planted in the first half…In the second half ,at pre climax position that boy saves Naseeruddin sha and Arshad varsi..here boy  character d planted and payoffs…

2.Dil chahta hai:

In the first half ,Ameer khan said a Romantic dialogue in comic way infront of preethi jinta in Pub. The same dialogue Ameer khan said in serious way infrontof  preethi zinta…here dialogue is planted and payoffs…

3. 3 idiots:

Professor Sahasrabuddhi (Boman Irani) told about “pen” in the first half. He is waiting for to give it a Best student .finally in the second half Rancho(AmeerKhan) got that pen from professor Sahasrabudhi. Show that Rancho  become best student. Here “pen “ planted and payoffs.

Like that in so many movies dialogues, articals, paintings, characters ,guns are planted and payoffs taking place. We are not thinking in the second half.

at the time these are coming on the screen.

Ghajini---Foot print of Ameer Khan and Asin.

Dil to pagal Hai---visil sound making by Sharukh khan

D.D.L--- A bell ,that which is given  to kajol by sharukh khan.

Time lock and option lock :

Time lock :
It is a condition for hero  to overcome a problem within particular time. It increases the Risk of main character. More incidents and more turns should happen .due to that tension raised in the audience mind.

Example:

speed, The killer ,Titanic,Hangover ,Lagaan.

Option lock :

It is a condition with number of options. Here so many ways to solve the problem. There is no time limit. The main character searching to overcome problem by different ways. If every option is failed ,main character facing risk. Finally main character overcome from the problem with last option.
It also raises tension in the audience mind in different way.

Examples:
Jurassic park

Condition:
If script starts with time lock..then turn in to option lock—don’t waste time. maintain three options only…first option must be failed..second option must be half succeed…third option must be hit the target.
Example: Taxi No 9211 …(used this one –-hit)
Thathastu (not used ----flop)
